Podcast Lesson 02 | Did we transform our passions into an income?

In this episode we discussed "On Purpose with Jay Shetty's 6 Strategic Steps to Discover your Passion & Transform It Into an Income" podcast episode, we recently listened to it as homework from our TakeThree Uni membership group and all of us who did the homework feel like we learned so much about ourselves and who are we to our community.

Ep.05 | Do we create to get validation from others? An existential conversation.

Is our sense of belonging driven by likes and metrics? How many of us really understand the power of our social media presence? Are we part of the problem? Why do we find fulfillment in others consumption of our content? Are we feeding the toxicity we see on the internet? There are so many thoughts I wrestle with when it comes down to our relationship with social media and in this episode I wanted to take you along a raw conversation where we unpack some of these, very existential, questions.

Why did we create TakeThree Talks?

Having a podcast has always been a dream of mine. Hi, it’s Estefi again. Here’s why we created the podcast: In late 2020, Meijun and I were approaching burnout at an unsustainable pace. Meijun was focused on finishing projects, watching Netflix, and playing video games. I felt a persistent urge to share, connect, and do more than graphic design. I'd been an avid podcast listener since 2016, appreciating its intimacy and vulnerability. Creating this podcast wasn't about ego; it was about healing, expressing myself, and feeling worthy and connected.

Another reason for the podcast was to stop constantly retelling our story. Starting couples therapy during the burnout phase made me realize I was tired of recounting our past to new people or friends. I wanted to share our story in detail over the first three episodes, and then move forward.

Creating TakeThree Talks wasn't an easy decision. I struggled with doubts about my talent and the perception of our relationship. Editing was particularly challenging; I'd edit out uncomfortable parts, only to feel inauthentic later. Eventually, I decided to stop editing episodes with Meijun, which helped me feel more authentic.

These episodes are an invitation to get to know me, us, and others we meet. They're filled with nuance, tenacity, and vulnerability, touching on mental health and personal struggles. Expect off-tangent conversations that will make you laugh, feel, and ponder. At least one or two episodes will likely leave you feeling existential.

With love,
