….Hi friends! It’s Estefi, we were traveling back from Ayampe Beach in Ecuador, it’s a solid 9 to 10-hour drive, so we decided to make a quick one-night pit-stop in Mindo. We were with the dogs (Guillermo & Tobias) which didn’t allow us to actually do any of the awesome activities you can partake in while in Mindo, like seeing Hummingbirds, going to Butterfly sanctuaries, checking out beautiful and rare orchids, and even going on Chocolate tours. ..Hola amigos! Soy Estefi. Estábamos de regreso de la playa de Ayampe en Ecuador, un viaje de unas sólidas 9 a 10 horas en auto, así que decidimos hacer una rápida parada de una noche en Mindo. Estábamos con los perros (Guillermo y Tobias), lo que no nos permitió hacer ninguna de las increíbles aventuras que se pueden disfrutar en Mindo, como ver colibríes, visitar santuarios de mariposas, admirar hermosas y raras orquídeas e incluso hacer tours de chocolate. ….
….As we were arriving in Mindo, I begged Meijun that we try something different for lunch because your girl wanted something different in her belly after a delicious 2 weeks of eating fresh fish and delicious Ecuadorian food. ..Mientras nos acercábamos a Mindo, le rogué a Meijun que probáramos algo diferente, porque su servidora quería algo diferente en su barriga después de disfrutar de 2 semanas de deliciosos pescados frescos y comida ecuatoriana. ….
….I quickly went on Google Maps and typed “Middle Eastern food Mindo” and the first result was Persian House! ….It was raining for the entire 24 hours we were in Mindo (it’s a Cloudforest after all) and the light went out as soon as we got to Persian House for the first meal, but thank goodness they still had food, and it was actually quite candlelit and romantic. ..Estuvo lloviendo durante las 24 horas que estuvimos en Mindo, después de todo, es un bosque nuboso, y se fue la luz tan pronto como llegamos a Persian House para la primera comida. ….The next day, we went again for breakfast before our drive back to Quito and to be honest, we were just as in love with the food as we were with the story of the owners, a beautiful husband and wife team. With their perfectly unperfect Spanish, they were able to share with us that they had left Tehran, Iran around 8 years ago, they had a restaurant in Quito and were doing well until the pandemic hit and changed their situation, clientele and everything… which led to their decision to leave Quito to take a leap of faith of running their restaurant in Mindo, where more tourist foot traffic would be guaranteed. ..Fuimos nuevamente para el desayuno al día siguiente antes de comenzar a conducir de regreso a Quito, y siendo honestos, nos enamoramos tanto de la comida como de la historia de este matrimonio. Con su limitado español, pudieron compartir con nosotros que habían dejado Teherán, Irán, hace unos 8 años. Tenían un restaurante en Quito y les iba bien hasta que hubo cambios en su clientela principal y luego llegó la pandemia... lo que los llevó a decidir dejar Quito para probar suerte administrando su restaurante en Mindo, donde habría más tráfico turístico garantizado. ….
